Kitesurf World Cup in SPO..

Hey there!

From the 1st till the 10th of August the annual Kitesurf World Cup was held in St. Peter-Ording at the North Sea in Germany. The Surf Cup attracts many spectators each year by offering different activities such as beach volleyball, huge beach parties at night and of course the centre of attention - kitesurfing.

Many professionals from all over the world came to the small coastal town to participate in various competitions. The winners of this years' World Cup are Karolina Winkowska (Poland) and Aaron Hadlow (United Kingdom).

I visited the camp of the world cup on the 6th of August. Although the wind wasn't strong enough on that day to provide good surfing conditions I spent the day walking along the broad beach and soaking up the sun with some friends. It was also lovely to see all these colourful kites lying on the beach or soaring up in the air.

I will definitely return to beautiful St. Peter-Ording.

Dîner en blanc..

Hey there!

Last week the city where I live hosted a "Dîner en blanc" (White Dinner) in one of our main streets.
The "Dîner en blanc" was invented in Paris by François Pasquier about 25 years ago and has been held in numerous cities around the world since then (eg. New York City, Sydney, Nairobi, Barcelona,..).

On the original homepage it is stated that the "Dîner en blanc is simply a friendly gathering whose sole purpose is to create a magical evening".

Of course the event that was hosted in my city didn't reach the size equal to the Parisian one but it was still a great opportunity to get together and to enjoy a picnic in style.

Let me know if you've experienced a "Dîner in blanc" before and where!

French: Clafoutis..

Hey there!

I returned to the farm where I picked strawberries some weeks ago to pick raspberries and huckleberries! (Check here)

Unfortunately I didn't take my camera there, so I would like to show you a great recipe.

This dessert is called "Clafoutis" and was invented in the country of our beloved neighbours - the French.

Ingredients (for a small casserole)

~ 250 g raspberries (any type of berries works)
~ 100 g flour
~ 80 g sugar
~ 3 organic eggs
~ 250 ml milk (I used soy milk)

1. Mix flour, sugar and eggs.

2. Add milk bit by bit and preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

3. Grease a small casserole and put the raspberries in as a base.

4. Pour the mixture over the raspberries (it's supposed to be slightly runny).

5. Put it in the oven for 30-40 minutes.

6. ENJOY!

At the marina..

Hey there!

Long time no post! But I'm back again.

With summer comes the great range of different activities.
Since a friend of mine (Anna-Karenita) owns a beautiful boat at the nearby marina, I have the amazing opportunity to spend time with her and other friends on it.

And now follows a small excerpt of the photos I took while I was there. They are mostly detail orientated since I only had my macro lens with me.

Thank you.

Kiel Week..

Hey there!

In the past few days (21st of June - 29th of June) the annual Kieler Woche (Kiel Week) was held in my city.

Originally the Kiel Week had mainly been a sailing championship but now offers many different activities for all age groups.

A highlight of the festival is also the great range of different meals which can be enjoyed either from the various food booths or the "International Village" near the Town Hall.

Each year there are many successful sailors coming to Kiel to either take part in the championship or to simply experience the maritime festival.

Wandering in the fields..

Hey there!

The other day I drove to a field nearby to pick some fresh strawberries.

Adjacent to the strawberry field was a flower field where one could pick their own flowers as well. I chose a few peonies, since I love the way they look when they're blossoming out.

Later on I made a cake with the freshly picked strawberries.

I hope (wherever you may read this) you are also blessed with great weather and the possibility to see the origin of your food. If you have the chance of visiting any sort of fruit plantation go ahead and pick your very own selection.

The Roadtrip - Part V..

Hey there!

Part V - The North Sea (The final one)

After our - way too short - stay in Maastricht we travelled back to Germany to the North Sea in Lower Saxony. We visited a small town called Emden near the Dutch border and Bremen.

We spent the day walking around the town, went into a few shops and relaxed at the waterside.

In the evening we went out for dinner where we had Nachos and Enchiladas.

The next day we drove to Bremen to have a look at the city and to finish off our roadtrip with a nice meal in a restaurant at the riverside.

However if someone wishes to see the North Sea I would rather recommend travelling to Schleswig-Holstein or to visit an island in Lower Saxony rather than staying at the coast. Go by boat or train to a small island (for example Föhr or Sylt) and spend a week there in May or June.
